  • yeah the choir that im in, holy names high school choir, is performing it in windsor ontario this coming week and well our choir director decided to pick the hardest one which is satb but its coming along, the key changes are crazy and such but manageable. it truly is an honour to perform for the olympic torch relay i mean its sickk! we had the chance to perform at carnegie hall last year so were used to intense songs :P

  • Oh wow, how lucky! We haven't got so many basses/tenors in our choir ... we're pretty heavy on sopranos and altos, and really light on guys ... we have three, to be exact. Haha.

  • Yeah My choir has been chosen to sing it when the torch comes through Edmonton. It's a pretty cool honor.

But yeah, good job. I can understand why you would have just done it in one part it's a pretty difficult song. And a little outrageous. :D

  • Outrageous is an understatement. Four key changes? Come on! Haha. It is an honor though, we're quite proud. We're travelling to Ottawa this summer to sing there on Canada Day and represent Newfoundland and Labrador. Which is also a pretty cool honor!

  • I agree with you. I don't blame the composer, but the song is hard to sing as the parts are written strangely. I'm sure it was one of those compositions that was composed under a timeline, with lots of requirements (2 languages, about canada, about the olympics, and just so many mintues long). A shame really. I wish we had just held a competition to pick the best piece for the olympics.

kudos to the choir for making the right choice and singing well.

  • Thanks! It's too bad, because the song could have been so much better. But like you said, working under a time line and with so many requirements can't be an easy thing to do. :)

  • I was able to sing this song when the torch passed through my town! The French lines weren't hard to remember, but I lost track of the songs timing and lost tune a few times. Now I can't forget it. Haha.

  • Oh, it was freezing here too!

  • We sing harmonies really often .. however, to be completely honest, we hated this song. Haha, so we just sang it the way it would be least work.

  • I Had to sing this song when it was here in inuvik NT, except it was like -13 and FREEZING outside, we also had to do the dancing part in it.
