Here's a demo song featuring a soundscape entirely from the ARP 2600 (x 2)! All sounds, fx and drum patterns in the track were sequenced exclusively via the Oberkorn MK3 by Analogue Solutions.

Every synth line was then recorded into Logic and layered to create the finished track you hear in the video. The only reverb used was the spring reverb from the 2600, and only on select sounds.

The 2600 interfaces nicely with the Oberkorn and allows for the type of filter sweeps, steps and patterns you cannot achieve via the standard keyboard (or simple CV) alone.

Sound of Science 2013. Watch this space.

Have you ever heard of Timothy C. Smith? He designed a mod for this synth that Arp ended up using. He was featured in Mark Vail's Vintage Synthesizers the second edition. I really appreciated this video you have a lot of talent with these beautiful dinosaurs :).

I was just curious because he was my father and he was so dedicated to the 2600. He even brought his to my parents honeymoon in 83 lol. He was an electronics engineer and started working on these in high school. So the 2600 is sentimental to me and I just really like ur vids.

Thanks Holly, appreciate the feedback and the information on your father's contributions. He certainly gave a lot to the synth world and has brought many people great synth euphoria.

Were you happy with the sync between the Oberkorn and Logic? I find myself having to Flextime audio tracks into perfect time because MIDI jitter is so awful. Hopefully a recently acquired Emagic AMT8 will sort that out, but still...

    Can't wait for this album!

Sync between Logic & Oberkorn seamless and rock solid. Which MIDI box were you using?

Just a vanilla USB-to-MIDI cable. The jitter is in MIDI over USB or Logic's control thereof. No dropped notes or anything but definite timing 'smear'. Right now I'm using an old MC-500 to trigger my modular and it's a different world. Ditto for my old Atari ST. But it means my Logic has been relegated to a multi-track recorder! God, the irony.
