  • I'm not one to defend earmarks or wasteful government spending, but Senator Harkin is right. I live in the country. You can smell a hog farm miles away. The odor is overwhelming (especially in summer), and it affects surrounding property. Suppose you inherit a hundred acres, and you want to sell it to a residential developer. No one is going to build houses near a pig farm because people won't buy them. I know city people find this problem funny, but it's really not.

  • Odor from pig farms, both large and small, is often the starting point for litigation that puts these operations out of business. It's easy to make jokes about this being "pork", but using SCIENCE, Mr. Veteranarian, we can fix this and keep these small pig farmers working. Why would Ensign be against helping the pork industry go about its business in an environmentally friendly way and be good neighbors. Answer: political posturing.

  • THANK YOU!!!! Just say No to this hand out of MONEY! American families are cutting back, Government needs to get on track!
