School Of Rock Grand Opening

Move over Jack Black, here comes the Chico School of Rock! http://www.chicoschoolofrock.com Founded by Chico music icon and educator Sid Lewis, this unique music school has been teaching area youth the art of Rock n Roll for 5 years and now boasts over 100 students and three full time instructors.

Students of the Chico School of Rock have been featured in People Magazine, on the Rachel Ray Show, and perform regularly in the North State. Our curriculum is based on having fun, being yourself, and getting out there and doing it Says Sid.

Instead of learning scales, our students are writing great songs, forming bands with their friends, and having a great time.

The school offers private lessons for all rock instruments, such as electric guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, as well as vocals and songwriting. But the school also offers instruction in classical, jazz and folk music as well. In our book, Rock and Roll includes all types of music. If you dream it, we can teach it!

The school also holds group Band Building classes, Buddy Lessons, and recently brought in a celebrity teacher: the drummer for Offspring!

Instead of recitals, the school hold twice yearly rock concerts featuring lasers, smoke machines and full volume. Children as young as 4 years old have graced the stage, and the last concert had 40 students and seven bands play. See http://www.chicoschoolofrock.com for upcoming shows.

The Chico School of Rock will be having its official Grand Opening on Saturday, August 29th, from 10am until 2pm, with a Ribbon Cutting with the Chico Chamber of Commerce at noon. The event will feature lesson give-aways, performances from students of the school, and much more. Come out to support the coolest school around!
