A table, bed and chair

'A table, bed and chair' is a short documentary that looks at the squatting scene in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The documentary is subjective in nature and is seen through the eyes of a group of student squatters.

'A table, bed and chair' is the first in a series of short documentaries that looks at a range or fringe communities living in and around Amsterdam. The aim of the project is to bring further understanding to these individual communities by putting the viewer in the shoes of the subject. In doing so, I aim to paint not only a picture of these individual communities, but of the greater community as a whole.

The short film was produced for Elitair magazine.

If you followed the goal of our short film with an open mind, maybe you see that the squatters are from all walks of life and create something wonderful that is a big part of our Dutch culture.

The people that oppose squatters in Holland probably have good enough grounds to if they have been subjected to raised crime levels, noise disturbance and antisocial behaviour. Squatting is such a vital part of Dutch society that is unfortunately being spoiled by drunken drugged up freeloaders.

I spent several years squatting in various places in Holland. I have seen the other side of this community who have no respect for anyone or anything around them, shoplifting and stealing from the community they are supposedly attempting to integrate into and educate about the benefits of their chosen way of life.
