OMG! Absolute classic!! I watched these FAITHFULLY as a kid. I've always loved the melodies to these clips. R.I.P Paul Benedict, you were great!

I had no idea that that actor had died! Thank you for the heads up!
-
The gorilla reminds me of Paul from "The Electric Company", both old AND new.
-
@Tjtkkr67 What gives you the crazy idea that adults don't care about kids now?
-
It was a great day when adults actually cared about kids and how to teach them things on TV. I love that so many of you loved these classics too! Thanks for sharing!
-
@MsPandaRosa I wondered the same thing too and I posted a comment on that video called "Fred, Get Me A 20" wondering if that was the same gorilla on that video who loves numbers a lot where here on this skit, he helped the painter paint a number and on the "Fred, Get Me A 20" skit, he was holding a number.

Mad Painter (to himself): Thanks, gorilla, for finishing my 5. Now give me 5!
-
Good thing the gorilla liked numbers! Wonder if he's the same gorilla who met the guy looking for a 20?
-
...get ruined.
-
This is the only sketch of these I know of where his number didn't
-
Was that gorilla named Paul (Jim Boyd)? Did this appear before Electric Company#1 in 1971?
So who played and/or composed the music for these? Raposo?
BTW, congrats to Jonnytbirdzback and afriendofbean for being recognized by Sesame.

This Mad Painter #5 skit helped me to learn how to write the number 5 when I was very young. When I was very young, I always used to try to write a "5" but, everytime I would try, I would always make a capital letter "S" since I had difficulty trying to make a "5." Then I remembered and said to myself, "wait, I remember the painter and the gorilla making a "5" together, let me do what they both did." First I did what the painter did, then what the gorilla did, after that, I made a "5" well.

Hey. I just got that 40th anniversary book last night. And I read that they used your comment on the page that talked about the Mad Painter! Congrats!

Thank you. Wow, that's amazing. I didn't know that they used my comment about how this skit helped me learn how to write the number "5" very well after seeing what the painter and the gorilla did together.

If you get a chance to look at it, it's on page 244. I was too shocked that they talked about my upload!
