  • So are you telling me Riven actually exists somewhere in full 3D? I thought they were a bunch of -very nice- 2D computer images. Now that computers are more powerful they should do full 3D riven, where you walk rather than click. Basically RealRiven.

Although I guess people don't like games like this anymore...they prefer shooting stuff in the face nowadays

  • WHAT?! Darth Vader was Luke's father?!?! THANKS, RAND MILLER.

  • @keithktam Isn't it just renderman format? That's what was used on JP right? I guess all people know these days is maya.

  • @HotFuzz456 Absolutely not. Real-anything myst sucks and has always and will always suck. Even if they licensed the cryengine it would not be up to par with the original graphics.

What they should do is go back and re-render everything in glorious HD. Tho I suppose the original video sources for the acting wouldn't be up to par and would have to be redone.

  • @HotFuzz456 MAN TELL ME ABOUT IT, but if you want to keep that glimmer of hope alive then try the submachine games there a pretty good point and click

  • @keithktam

and yes those slide pictures in Riven was of course 3D, they are 3d rendering stills, when something looks more 3 dimensional, they probably are 3d, and they do have all these 3d files in order to make the rendering

  • @keithktam

the format they used on Riven back than was something of a specialist thing, they were using those supercomputer that once power the graphic for Jurassic part so the format for those server would be a weird one, its not like 3ds, those the quality and complexity are pretty the same, but it was a super computer in 1995 or something.

  • @HotFuzz456

go to mysterium 2011 and listen to the conversation with Rand you would know the problem involved remaking and reusing the original Riven materials... you see its difficult for new generation even the professional one to understand these days cause power software are very often off the shelves...

  • @RichardDuryea - at least there's Myst Online, which imho, is the best and most immersive experience in the series following Riven; music included. i still like the Ubi games, but they gave me a totally different vibe.

  • As much as I want to see realRiven I don't think that will happen because of the bad port of Myst to the Nintendo DS. While the ports of Myst and Riven to the iphone are great they take up too much memory (Riven required 1.2G). And today these ports aren't selling well and is considered to be a dead franchise. The series is currently dormant, guess we just have to wait for the Myst movie to give the series new life.

  • this isn't league of legends O.o wat?
