Awesomeness!!! this is where it's particularly hard to believe this was made with guitar and effects :) if you guys threw me this record without saying it was Guitar+EHX I'd never even think it's possible to do it without those Indian instruments :)

mind = blown.

Once again your videos are inspiring and shows the endless possibilities of creating sounds and emulations that are actualy useable in music compositions. I particualy like the set up you have in this Volume. I've been wanting a sitar sound but can't find one on a tight budget. I would just love to be an effects pedal tester. I'll keep watching your vids. Great work.

that was awesome

btw. in what order would you recommend to start getting those pedals to create all the wonderful and weird sounds?

Effectology series is one of the most entertaining and awesome videos on youtube! I wish one day I had money to buy whole bunch of effect pedals and do some experimenting with them just like you! :)

how do you get something to self-oscillate?
-
I am going to buy every ehx pedal
I've got a Germ4 Muff now, and I tried the oscillation thing. It doesn't really work, not with any of my passive single coil or humbucker guitars anyway. The only way I can even barely get the osc sound is with a cable and no guitar plugged into it, but then I just get the squeal, and no knob control over the pitch. My old DOD Death Metal does it way better anyway, but it's got me wondering. Are you using active pickups? Or a completely shielded and insulated guitar maybe? What's the secret?

@Warpsmasher I use regular passive humbuckers.
Turn up every thing to max of the Germ Big Muff and lower your volume control on the guitar to zero. Slowly raise the guitars volume. The whistle should star over the first 1/4 play of the volume pot. If its very soft add a distortion or compressor after it.
Also make sure your battery is good. Good luck

Bill I wonder: I know you do sessions - do you get to use any of these unusual sounds and effects chains on them? Do the engineers know your rep for this kind of thing? I listen to a lot of the ad spots on the local radio and hear conventional rock instrumentation but sometimes synthesizer type sounds or sound effects. I've wondered if there have been any times when your expertise here has helped with those spots.

@aliensporebomb
I sure do!
I have been doing sound effects for commercials for years.
You would never know its a guitar. The guitar tends to fit in more musically then a standard sound effect.
Over the years I have got very good and very fast at catching visual cues in the video. I have been everything from food spills to cars and planes to to animals to sunsets to scrubbing bubbles and more.
The guitar can do almost anything!
