Spain's captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who helped his country win the World Cup in South Africa, said on Thursday (June 9) that Spain's current season is 'unmatchable' and that Mexico's Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez will become one of the world's best players.

"I think Spanish football is going through its best period. I think it'll be difficult to repeat this. If it does repeat itself, it won't be the same because the two years we have lived through in Spain are unmatchable with the Euro Cup and World Cup. I always ask Spanish fans remember these two years in case Spain has bad luck and does not play a good role in four years at the Euro Cup or World Cup, because I think they've been marvelous and because people thought Spain would never win an international title," he said.

Casillas, who was goalkeeper at Real Madrid, added that if Manchester United's forward continues playing at this level and scoring goals, a lot of teams will be interested in Hernandez.

"In Europe he's very well known-- "Chicharito," everyone knows him-- because whenever he gets on the pitch he scores. He had to continue as he has done now. I can't give him any advice but he hasn't done badly this first year he's been in Spain and probably more people will speak about him as he grows as player and a person," Casillas told a news conference.

In his first season with Manchester United, the 23 year-old Mexican forward conquered the English Premier League and scored 20 goals.

He also played during the Champions League final Manchester United lost against Barcelona.

"El Chicharito" was signed on in April 2010 by the Premier League club in 1986 which is directed by Alex Ferguson, from "Las Chivas" in Guadalajara, Mexico's most popular team.

The 30 year-old Spanish goalkeeper, who is currently in Mexico to offer soccer classes to children, added he doesn't see himself in a different team other than Real Madrid, a club who signed him on until 2017.
