@tamzokes You're right. Joe Namath threw more picks than touchdowns. You're absolutely right.
But, to come to Joe's defense, back in the 50s, 60, 70s, quarterbacks, in general, threw more picks than quarterbacks do today.
Take Terry Bradshaw as an example. Bradshaw's TD-INT ratio was 212-210. Terry Bradshaw, 4 -time Super Bowl champion, and 2-time NFL MVP, threw an interception for every touchdown he threw.
Since the 80s, the game has opened up on offense, allowing for fewer INTs.
anyone who thinks joe was an over rated qb by looking at his stats doesn't understand football or it's evolution. all they're doing is displaying their ignorance.
He was the greatest. Forget about QB ratings. He filled stadiums. The first Monday Night Football Game on ABC was Jets at Cleveland. No accident! It was the star power. You don't find that in QB ratings! Once, he threw 496 against the Colts (Baltimore) on 15 pass completions! I was at the game in which he came back after 19 straight games. The Jets without him was a lethargic. Once in to the game, the offense was like a racehorse. He almost won the game. And of course the Super Bowl!
Dazzling mechanics....plus this guy had breakaway speed as a running QB in hs and college before the injuries. He was a phenomenal talent

My favorite quarterback of all time. I'm from Drew Brees country and he is good but to me, Joe was the best.
