Na década de 60 a União Soviética pretendia estender sua projeção de poder para as áreas ao longo dos mares Cáspio e Negro. Para tanto, criou o conceito do Ekranoplano, único no mundo. Por falta de verbas, os projetos foram abandonados na década de 90. Um deles pode ser visto pelo Google Earth 42°52'56.13"N 47°39'22.69"L.

around the Caspian and Black sea. So, created the Ekranoplan concept,
unique in whole the world. But after several problems envolving money investments the idea was abandoned in the 1990's. One of the Ekranoplans can be seen by Goolge Earth: 42°52'56.13"N 47°39'22.69"L.
