@J3rEmY17 No I totally AGREE. Because god is an abstract idea you can consider ANYTHING "god." Have fun. I just wanted to know if you would join me for a front row seat at the Coldplay concert in Chicago. The way Chris Martin sings, so beautiful....he must be GOD. No man can have a voice like that! FYI: I'm not an atheist at all, i'm a prog rock fan!
@dkthg So because we have names for things already we can't have synonyms? God is an idea that no one has proof of so my opinions on god are just as valid yours and since as I stated earlier since god is an abstract idea I could consider god to be anything from a star, or totem to something I couldn't begin to comprehend, I'll take the later. Because there is no proof everyone is truly agnostic with preferences. So you would be an agnostic atheist (assuming) and I an agnostic deist.
@J3rEmY17 Sure, you can call anything you want "god" (money, sex, the bigbang) but that would be silly and downright idiotic because we already have names for these things. And just because you consider something "god" doesn't make it so, it's just YOUR opinion.(as you yourself has stated.) And yes; neither of us have proof that a "god" exists, but i understand that there are more logical reasons why a god WOULDN'T exist compared to why it would exist.
@dkthg None of those other ideas are abstract the details of each are clear and can easily be disproved but the details of god are not clear cut, god can be a being or an object (look at Merriam-Webster's definitions) or a complex chain of events. I can call the big bang god if I wanted to. The boogeyman hides in your closet or under the bed to scare the crap out of little kids which is alot more specific than god. I admit that I have no proof that god exists what is your proof?
@J3rEmY17 That makes NO sense! At the heart of it; all gods are IDEAS, they are a product of man's imagination just like santa clause, the easter bunny and the faires that live in my iphone. "The boogey man is a being more frightening and horrifying than anything a human can imagine, this makes it hard to prove anything about it." Same logic. And even then how can you believe in ONE god and discard ALL the others?
@dkthg You can disprove some of those things. For example santa can't possibly be real because the idea he rides on a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer is one not possible and two he couldn't possibly visit all the homes he needs to in one night. The Lochness Monster can't exist because there is not enough food in the lake to support it. The point of god is that the idea of it being exponentially more powerful and intelligent than a human makes it hard to prove anything about it.
@J3rEmY17 If that's the case, then you can't disprove fairies, unicorns, santa clause, the loch ness monster, the easter bunny, zeus, apollo, harry potter, superman....
@turtonmatt The theory of relativity was once only an idea, one that came from the imagination of a man named Einstein. Ideas have been proven true, conspiracy theories from time to time have been proven true as well for example project MKULTRA. There is really no evidence to prove or disprove his existence, it really comes down to your own choice based on what you believe if he exists or not.
