It would be interesting to use this device on artists and art critics to see how they react to works of art in front of them. If I was running the experiment I would try to find out if artworks judged as good by artists and critics shared any "scan" characteristics. -Same with those judged unsuccessful.

Heh. I routinely read about 800 WPM when blasting through a piece of fiction, wonder if the tracker could keep up?

i would definitely like to see this experiment as well...studying film aesthetic of composition and editing shows what makes sense (such as the 180 degree rule--see wikipedia). i think this would also be useful for live video

do you mean the text on the screen, or are you saying the researchers were using a script?
There was no script, and I like the text on screen because the film is all about reading words on screens (then again, I edited the film, so of course I like it!)
