the mask

What Wilde says is a bit different. It's from De Profundis. I really like Stephen Fry and what he says here but it would be a shame for people to quote his words as Wilde's. Basically what he's saying is that if you take on a mask you're condemned to wear it.

It's true, every word.
I wanted to be a space man and a train driver.
Now half the time I'm spaced out, and the rest of the time I'm late.

@ajaggard Similar to Eddie Izzard's description of "the dog's bullocks." :D

@jag305 or for all those out there getting confused about heartion's comments:
"the absolute balls" = amazing
"absolute balls" = rubbish
so the "the" makes all the difference. besides, whatever stephen fry says is pure, indisputable gold anyways
-
@heartion balls? Good? Positive? Or... ?
-
well, it doesn't feel like a reward...not yet anyway
-
@heartion 'Absolute balls' - is that a compliment or an insult? Just curious. I think it's a compliment, but I'm not sure...
-
@heartion i think they are quite the same , whats the matter , he might have some changes in words same though , its the same.... you can say I LOVE YOU in any words but the thought is still the same duhhh,....
"Wilde said If you want to be a grocer or a general or a politcian or a judge, you will invariably become it. That is your punishment. If you never know what you want to be, if you live what some might call the dynamic life but I will call the artisitic life -- if each day you are unsure of who you are and what you know -- you will never become anything and that is your reward."
For those that want to copy and paste. Because everything Fry says is the absolute balls.
