You have a choice. Either we weld your lungs to your chest cavity so that you can breathe, but that will be permanent and you will die within a year; or you can wait to have both your lungs transplanted, which may never happen and if it does, you are likely to die before you ever get it...

With cystic fibrosis and at the age of 21 Emily Thackray had to wait at least 18 months for a double lung transplant, and with less than a year to live, she focused on raising awareness to save other people with great success. Her work became acclaimed, and she found herself all over the television and with articles in major newspapers. She was also presented with a special award by CF Trust, presented by Richard and Judy who's show she had appeared on, and who were there for her as she struggled through her hard times.

In 2008 Emily registered her campaign, 'Live life then Give Life,' as a charity and in 2009 it was voted Best New Charity of the Year in the Charity Times Awards.

This film was made to be a three a minute wonder/

  • It takes a lot for a brit to be truly honest about their emotions. We witnessed this woman in one of those moments, and it is all the more powerful for it. Made my eyes well up.

  • Brings a tear to your eyes at the end there ;)
