actually u2 is still good. just watch their most recent tour.
Also, We don't even know if it was the band who filed the lawsuit in the first place.
It COULDA been their record label and U2 wasn't kept in the loop.

i think copyright rights should ONLY go to the guy who created said product and should only last 10 years!!! That is PLENTY OF TIME to make your money.

they shoulda all raised their hand then kicked the crap out of the guy who was talkin and said "Copyright THIS bitch!" before sticking their shoes up his ass

it's musicians like thom york and Radiohead leading the revolution of what the industry could be, without greedy, corrupt ,selfish corporations who nothing about what they're defending or protecting, taking over our way of life and culture..sell outs like that old fart Bono and U2 are the complete opposite...they're a bunch of aging has -beens and haven't written anything decent since 1992..they are the dwindling so called innovators who should give it up and do us all a favor and retire !

@iamboy1234 what's more is that the ideas that he is expressing are clearing those of the big media corporations and not his own. Now THAT'S stealing of intellectual property!
Rick Cairns' argument is complete rubbish. When asked if it's a bit overboard to get 5 years in jail and a $250 000 fine, Cairns' says "There is a thing called intellectual property.". Nobody who has those 5000 MP3s on their hard drive is actually claiming to be the owner of the intellectual property nor are they stealing the idea of the song, which is the whole point of "intellectual property".

Imagine if they tried to sue EVERYONE for every single piece of copyrighted material they downloaded? The prison system would collapse, and the economy would bankrupt quicker and more devastatingly than both the Gret Depression and the ongoing GFC.
The record companies will sue a few of us to make examples of them and to scare the rest of us.
I say we should all announce just how we would be sued for if the record companies came after us. Then let them try!
