How very disappointing, that does not fairly represent collectivists. Since collectivism is basically a thought of we're in this together so a lot of co operation should happen.

The view of this video on collectivists is one of STATISTS i.e. fascists/stalinists or for that matter some conservatives etc. There's plenty of left wing views that don't conform with what's said. An example of an actual collectivist thing would be... ok there's this dam that needs building but people have to move.

@DefendYourFreedom You have two options. Option one you drive through a busy highstreet, in doing so you kill 20 people as you have knocked them over :(. However you manage to get to a bomb intime and defuse it.

Option two, you don't drive thorugh the high street, however as you have left this "bomb" 50 people are killed.

Addition infomation: You know how many people are going to die in each situation, there are no other possible situations.

What would you do?

This whole argument is wrong, the best life is a balance of both these philosophies.

Well I guess the final thing is, obviously not many open minded nice middle class people are extremely authoritarian in the way that you make out collectivists. You'd have to be quite angry and snobbish to take that attitude (like mao or stalin or whoever). Yet many (ok not many, but of intellectuals a few) nice smart, informed middle class people are expressly collectivists, this goes to show you have incorrectly labelled things and your comparison is not balanced.

While the freedom to do various things or believe whatever are actual ones really. Or for instance the right to control all of a resource and inflate it's price is also bullshit.

Regardless, to say that all collectivists do not respect individual rights is a stupid libertarian cliche. It's merely the authoritarian ones.

There are for instance collectivist anarchists who care greatly about individual "freedoms" in most respects just not economically.

Well I guess we're just going to differ in explanations, regardless I guess the most fundamental is whether the focus is on individuals or whether it's on their interactions with others and which is more important.

I guess policy is the most important not what the ideology is called. For instance the right to not send your child to school (without a good reason like some sortof valid alternative education) or the right to descriminate are invalid rights
