Canadians see the entire 1812 war as ours. Quite obviously even the disastrous Battle of New Orleans strikes a cord as this song uses elements the US song of the same name. The British solders who died in New Orleans died on our behalf to force the USA to give up plans of conquering Canada. They are our Champions having given their lives for a British colony not yet a nation. We don't care where they were born they fought for Canada.

During the world wars we fought for Britain.

In response we burned Fort Niagra, Youngstown, 18 mile creek, Fort Scholsner, Tonawonga Creek, LaSalle, Black Rock, Buffalo,Washington & numerous small towns on your coast that I can't remember the names of. Many of your people starved & froze that we didn't kill outright.

As for your claim that we sent some to Britain in WW2, we went to war as a nation, our soldiers fought for our army. We also chose to join it freely as we entered 7 days after Britain.
