The earliest surviving Alamo film, produced in 1915 by American film pioneer D.W. Griffith, Martyrs of the Alamo is truly a rare cinematic treat.
Telling the tale of the courageous Texan stand against oppression and tyranny, with its impressive sets, wonderful battle scenes, and expressive performances, Martyrs surpasses the expectations implied by the words "epic filmmaking."
Witness the birth of Texas and get the true meaning to the immortal words, "Remember the Alamo," with this rare and thrilling cinematic treasure. (1915 • 72 Min. • B/W)
While the world of money and ignorant fame and fortune may consider it a flop. If I were a teacher or home schooling my kids and wanted to give my kids an idea about what it was really like, I'd damn sure show them the 2003 flop and than John Wayne's epic BS fest
History books don't give you the emotion and texture that you get from movies. Who writes those books? Mostly people who weren't there either. but at least in movies and re-enactments you more of an experience. than just reading it.

It's interesting to me that back then, when people were so much closer to the actual period of the event, (within 100 years) cold so badly screw up and very dramatic story. Not until 1960 , 1987, and 2003 were better movies made, 2003 being the most accurate. in the line in the sand scene here, ALL of the men wear buckskins an coonskin caps. No research attempted. I don't care when it was made, no excuse.
