Just days before the 2008 2009 Academy Awards nominations are announced Gold Derby blogger Tom O'Neil of TheEnvelope.com has a sleepless night fretting over the suspense of whether or not "The Dark Knight" will be nominated for Best Picture
Well, it wasnt that the industry failed to recognize TDK it was that they really couldnt (or didnt). They dont accept action films but since this was such a classic performace (and the oscar is built upon classic acting) they let it pass just for Heath's performance. But the awards should be about all types of films not just classic genres ("but lets let the comedy go through. whoop dee doo!")
he was filming another movie already for crying out loud. Thats just a myth. You could say that his last movie killed him as well if you go by that logic.
It's really sad to see that the "Academy" failed to recognize TDK at the Oscars. The entire organization is filled with old people that are too stuffy to recognize that a "comic book" film can be awards worthy. I guess if it isn't boring and long like some of the so-called film classics it isn't worthy of an Oscar. Shame on them for screwing this up!
I shudder at the thought of Gran Torino getting a BP nomination. Wall-E or TDK are expected for the 5th slot. Hopefully, by some amazing turn of events, Frost/Nixon gets left off and they BOTH make it in. *sigh* One could only hope...
