Charlie Chin & Nobuko Miyamoto "We Are The Children" (2/28/09, Los Angeles)

I'd never even heard of these people before, but you could tell this performance was something special for audience and musicians alike. Charlie Chin & Nobuko Miyamoto were part of a group called Yellow Pearl, with Chris Ijima. Tadashi Nakamura's documentary short "A Song For Ourselves" was about the life and music of Chris Ijima. At the premiere, they sang one of Chris' songs, "We Are the Children," a folk song which Chris & Nobuko performed on the Mike Sullivan Show (with an introduction by John Lennon). And yes, that really is her son on the right (I'm afraid I didn't catch his name).

We are the Children was like the anthem of the Asian American yellow power movement of the 70's!

Nobuko is STILL kicking butt, performing, organizing, educating.
