vote yes on 8

Perhaps the most concise and accurate quote about same-sex "marriage" to come from a religious leader is as follows.

"Marriage is neither a conservative nor a liberal issue; it is a universal human institution, guaranteeing children fathers, and pointing men and women toward a special kind of socially as well as personally fruitful sexual relationship. Gay marriage is the final step down a long road America has already traveled toward deinstitutionalizing, denuding and privatizing marriage. It would set in legal stone some of the most destructive ideas of the sexual revolution: There are no differences between men and women that matter, marriage has nothing to do with procreation, children do not really need mothers and fathers, the diverse family forms adults choose are all equally good for children. What happens in my heart is that I know the difference. Don't confuse my people, who have been the victims of deliberate family destruction, by giving them another definition of marriage."

Walter Fauntroy-Former DC Delegate to Congress, Founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus Coordinator for Martin Luther King, Jr.'s march on DC

The truth is this is a issue of social justice. Any society must recognize the unique status of marriage for the health of society, men & women themselves and their children.

It is an affront to reason and justice to pretend that family breakdown does not take precedent over homosexuals felt need for inclusion. Only a morally obtuse world view could put the wants of a small minority above the needs of the 70% illegitimacy rates among African Americans.

  • Rights different for MARRIAGE:

    * Spouses can change family name without court order.

    * Parenthood of same-sex couples threatened if family moves out of CA.

    * Dom Partners must share a domicile; not spouses. (297(b.1, c).

    * After DP's death home values can be reassessed (meaning property taxes can skyrocket).

    * Public employees excluded from long-term care insurance [Sec 297.5(g).]

Why lie about this inequality, french? To make voters feel less squeamish about voting for discrimination?

    Say NO!

  • family code 297 can be amended and things added to it.

with Obama, everyone will have long term insurance.

  • Too late for my husband--sorry--EX-husband, who had shoulder surgery scheduled for after Thanksgiving--now cancelled because he no longer has health insurance.

Will you please write to Obama and ask him to hurry up with your "solution," frencham?

    Merci.

  • I will.

    and you can too.

send your Express Mail letter (to get his attention faster)

to Obama - The White House - Washington DC

He promised we all will have the same care as members of congress so he better keep his promises

  • What same-sex "marriage" has done to Massachusetts

It's far worse than most people realize

Anyone who thinks that same-sex marriage is a benign eccentricity which wont affect the average person should consider what it has done in Massachusetts. Its become a hammer to force the acceptance and normalization of homosexuality on everyone. And this train is moving fast. What has happened so far is only the beginning.

  • Homosexuality is not anymore unnatural than heterosexuality, just less common. Natural law is so silly. The APA has already done tons of studies on gay parents, and they've found no measurable difference between kids with gay and straight parents. Gay parents have just as much ability to raise good kids!

  • In fact, there have been MANY well-known gay and bisexual people in history. SEVERAL cultures and civilizations, in fact, have been PRO-GAY. When the conquistadors arrived in Mesoamerica, many Aztecs were seen sodomizing each other. Many Native American societies have berdaches, effeminate men who dress up like women but are accepted. Native American tribes oftentimes called LBGT members "two-spirited." I could go on and on. Hell, there was a well-known gay couple in ancient Egypt.

  • why though? there was no REASON to that advert

  • Why are blacks hipocret? Because they defend their morals and values? Gay marriage and civil rights are two different things. Don't mix apples and oranges here.

  • What's up with all of the fake MLK quotes in these comments?

  • Tradition for tradition's sake is for pansies. Tradition for tradition's sake makes NO SENSE whatsoever! If we want to advance as a society, we are going to have to dump some ridiculous traditions that have no basis in fact. Why did humanity think homosexuality is 'evil' or sinful for 1000s of years? Well, they were extremely conservative and intolerant and stupid. People fear what they do not understand. Conservatives think their fear of gays is ok, but it's not. It's irrational.

  • Even not-so-conservative areas aren't always quite so receptive to LGBT people. The bigotry and intolerance of homosexuals is what leads a lot of them to commit suicide. They just can't take it, being condemned by church leaders and thought of as less than human by classmates or family members. It's so ridiculous. We've come so far in terms of rights for women, blacks, and all other minority groups, but the LBGT community is still marginalized. And why? Silly old traditions. Fuck tradition

  • I am ashamed that 70% of blacks voted against gay marriage in California. How could you be so fucking hypocritical? And then you use this copout answer: "Oh, but gay rights isn't a civil rights issue like black power." What baloney! Do you know how hard it is to be gay in this country, STILL? No matter what race you are, being gay is still very offensive to a lot of intolerant folks, esp. in very conservative areas. Gay people have a very hard time in conservative areas.

  • The idiot who wrote the video description has his facts all wrong. I don't know where to begin! 70% illegitimacy rates among blacks is the reason gay marriage shouldn't be allowed?? What kind of asinine nonsense is that? This is illegitimacy AMONG STRAIGHT PEOPLE!! It has nothing to do with gays. Why don't you get your own houses in order before you go around judging everyone else, esp. gays? It sickens me how intolerant 60% of Americans still are. This is 2008! Grow up! Stop insecurity.

  • your kids and grandkids will be embarrassed and ashamed of you when history looks back and sees you as the bigot you are...and thats not an opinion
