I uninstalled and deleted the "Standard 101/102 Keyboard with HP QLB" device driver from the Device Manager and restarted the computer which in turn made the "Standard PS/2 Keyboard" Driver to take over.
Then I reinstalled the latest service pack. This applies for XP SP 2 onwards and Vista SP 1. I have Vista, so my obvious choice was to remove the Vista SP1 and reinstall it.
Worked like a charm after that.

Fuck this computer sucks, i have the same laptop model and now the screen is dead, at first the little switch that turns off the lamp of the screen was doing a stupid noise, now the lamp is dead, this really sucks, im never gonna get a hp laptop again. Dell laptops suck as well. Mac and toshiba are the ones to go.
