@GForceChipmunks Yes it was, with some changes to make it modern and relevant and to make the storyline cohesive. There are a lot of references to the opera throughout.

I really hate it when people compare it to the movie, which is an entirely different media. This is live, when you're there, the intensity is real. The movie is emotionally wonderful too, but to BE THERE WITH THE PASSION, that is the real experience.

@sherbear158 This is the opening night of the Broadway production. Jonathan Larson died before the opening night of the Off-Broadway production. Anthony clearly states this in his book, and you can Google it if you do not believe me ;)

@idinasfavefanzel actually jonathan died before opening night of the broadway porduction. if you read anthony rapp's book its says that the first half of the play was just them sitting there singing but the second half was them acting and stuff so most of the emotions on the opening night show and a few others are actually real
