Believe S.F. was later. Think their 1st venue was Holiday Inn at Lake McQueeny near Seguin in 65 or 66. I saw them often and they brought the place down. Glad I found this one. Sweet Smoke was good too.
First time I saw Sweet Smoke was at San Antonio's HemisFair in 1968; outdoor stage that I believe is still there. Wow; they blew me away, doing cover songs from Beatles, they did a great Revolution by the Beatles, Vanilla Fudge, You Keep Me Hanging On...great memories...
I saw these guys in Corpus Christi back in the 60's. Awesome then and now. One time I saw them play with 2 drummers . Thanks for the post. It's great to find such good memories.
This band used to play teen dances in South Texas in the late 60's. They were one of the best, and I am thrilled to find this track on youtube. I saw them a few times at Koenig Hall in Castroville. The organist was simply incredible, but the rest of the band was very good.

Ralph Gleason lists them as a San Francisco band. I thought they came from the Pacific Northwest?

No, this is not Just a Poke Sweet Smoke. Go to amazon to find the three LPs, now CDs and MP3 with all the group's available music.

They did open for Vanilla Fudge at the Municipal Auditorium in SA.

They also had a great version of You've Got to Hide Your Love Away. I wish someone would post that one.
