  • @3210andLiftoff Yep, I discovered that not long after I posted that comment. Thanks for the correction! :)

  • @gsaum That's not correct. Columbia was outfitted with the NASA logo, flag and name with STS-109 and STS-107.

  • @chillaxer1993 It's there. On the right wing, it says USA. The American flag is on the left wing. Unlike the other 4 operational shuttles, Columbia never had the NASA logo or its name on the wings. You'll also notice that the forward portion of the wings, where they meet the fuselage, is black, whereas it is white on the other shuttles.

  • when did they get rid of the USA logo on the wings? I know theres the nasa logo but there was just a "USA" instead of the flag

  • @PCCphoenix I haven't seen anything further in the news or posted by Nasa about actually getting there either. Early in his term Obama said that's what he wanted Nasa working on but nothing else has come of it yet and I cannot see how they will be doing much without their own access to space. It seems human progress is just not a big priority for our president at this time.

  • @AndreisEntaro I did hear about the first part, but nothing about the second. As a matter of fact, I've heard nothing about a mission to Mars so far.

  • @PCCphoenix You heard wrong look it up for yourself. What you may have heard about is the project that was to replace the shuttle had funding pulled by Obama and Nasa was instructed to make Mars their objective rather than a return to The Moon.

  • @Apaleutos24 The failure wasnt apparent until after the SRB's were lit. Once the SRB's are lit, you cant shut them off.

  • They should have done the same and with the Challenger, so maybe they would have survived all of them. But again, how they could possibly had the slightest suspicion that something would go really out of control as it did...

  • @Dennisthemenace217 I've heard that the government is shutting down not only the shuttle but NASA!
