  • *Looks around* I guess I'm the only one paying attention. I feel lonely lol. I agree though for the most part, I originally was gonna vote for Obama but now I've decided I'm voting independant. I think we need to get out of this idea that only the Dems and Reps have all the answers as they are usually the problem. People just don't realize we have more choices.

  • Anyway, i disagree with Truthslayer a little bit though. I don't think you should have to get on the ballot in all 50 states to be included in the debate. I think you should just be on the ballot in enough states so it'd be possible for you to get the 270 electoral votes needed to win. If you accomplish that, I think you should be included in the debates, even if you aren't on the ballot in all 50.

  • There's two problems with term limits. One is that, while you may be getting rid of an incompetant Congressman who somehow keeps getting reelected, you are potentially prohibiting members who are experienced to hold office, and therefore garunteeing a completely freshman Congress who may not exactly know what they're doing and agree to compromises (since most freshman Congressman are too ambitious to do so). Secondly, it's up to the Congress to pass such term limits, and that just won't happen.

  • I would've really love to have seen the candidates debate in the science debate 2008. There were invited three times and every time they turn it down. This is really sad because it has been shown that both Mccain and Obama were more interested in faith and superstition than science and reason.

    New president, Same battles

  • Well then, all that would be required would be to make an 'incomplete' debate economically unworkable. If enough people decide not to watch the debate because all of the candidates are not present then their ratings would plummet. Once again we see low voter efficacy showing its ugly face. When I say 'If people did this or that' I have to admit it's a very big 'if'. As for how to change that, I'm open to suggestions.

  • agreed

  • I took a Poli Sci class last year and we talked about high reelection rates in Congress.

Almost all those running for Congress run on the basic message "That Congress is messed up, but you can trust me!" which is why you see low approval ratings for Congress, yet high approval ratings for alot of the invidiuals in their own state. Odd huh? I think there should be term limits. It would not solve reelection rates but the old farts would be gone before they became old farts.

  • Penn mention you in his new video!

  • I agree with you but there's one problem. The debates aren't like a government sponsored event (at least I don't believe they are). They are privately run, usually at a college (again at least I believe so) which means these private places have the right to invite who they want and not invite who they don't want (which usually means just the Dem and Rep candidates). It sucks, because as a libertarian myself I would love to see Barr in the debates, but he just doesn't get invited.

  • That's a good idea, I never thought of that one.
