The Belford project aims to reduce the risk of flooding in Belford, Northumberland, by using land management techinques on a catchment scale.

Features have been installed across the catchment to slow, store and filter the rapid runoff. The features include the creation of online ponds and wetlands, offline storage ponds on buffer strips, large woody debris dams in woodland, field ponds to capture overland flow and techniques to increase channael and floodplain roughness.
