Lila is perplexed. She sees her deceased husband with all the former members of his court. In her condition of nirvikalpa samadhi she sees this vision. She wonders about its reality. Is it the same as the apparent external reality?
What is real and unreal? She considers the region where her husband is now to be unreal -- just as we consider a dream to be unreal. Saraswati asks how the real can be the cause of the unreal? The effect is essentially the same as the cause.
Is a thought imaginary? If so, how can I move my limbs with a thought? Surely thoughts and limbs must be of the same nature?
Cooperative causes -- eg the shape of clay is the cooperative cause allowing it to have the effect of holding the water.
Is a hand different from a fist? Does the hand cause the fist? Is the hand the underlying reality of the fist? Is the fist inherent in the hand? - Ways of talking.
What is memory? Is memory more substantial than a dream? Memory can be confused with dream.
If it is said that the past gives rise to the present then what is the past? Is the past anything more than memory?
