Importance of the Deload

What is one of the biggest mistakes strength coaches, personal trainers, athletes and lifters make?

They never deload. In fact, they come in for weeks and weeks on end and train their asses off. That is good and bad.

Good in the fact that they are trying to build muscle, get stronger and get faster. They are trying to get more mobile, more explosive and get better for their sport(s).

BUT

With all of this training, you must build times into your program to recovery. And I'm not talking about a one recovery session. I am talking about a week long attention to getting your body ready for the next intense 3-4 week training block.

This is called a deload.

  • Hey Smitty, Why are comments disabled on a lot of your video's???

  • I was spending a ton of time deleting spam comments and BS stuff, so I just disabled them. It seems recently, people that are good and like minded have been spending time on the videos so there is no need to police the comments. All of the people that follow me are awesome!

  • will that damage the treadmill motor?

  • The work load of the tread mill feels like a light prowler load on grass. I bet you are burning twice the cals of peolpe running the motor. Nice Smitty!

  • That could be it my friend. My left speaker decided to stop working well a couple weeks ago.

  • I could hear sound and I suffer from hearing loss.

  • Sound is fine, but seems to only come from left channel, maybe that's why the other guy can't hear it (only right speaker working).

  • @smittydiesel I hear it.

  • Noticed on several of your videos that the sound is an issue. I can hear this if I turn it way up, same with a few other videos. Most of the time I get the jist by watching.
