  • The two masters of the pained look to the audience have to be Jack Benny and Oliver Hardy (of Laurel and Hardy fame).

  • I remember once Phil and Jack did a great parody on two films of the 50s. They played two escaped convicts chained together while dressed up as women, and called it The Defiant

    Ones Like It Hot.

  • This episode orignally aired on October 9, 1962. The opening routine about "borrowing pants" was first used in a live May 1954 episode featuring Bob Hope; if Jack felt a comedy bit or sketch on his radio and TV shows was more than successful, he'd eventually use it again in future shows.
