The Asguard (Advanced Security Guard) robot is a highly mobile platform that can move fast on flat terrain, overcome obstacles and climb stairs.
The robot has four actuated wheels and a passive degree of freedom on the body.

  • Cool. Good mobility. Check out my Giant Killer Robot. Yes they are finally here.

  • The map shown is an apriori map built with a tilting laser scanner. The itself does build local 3D point clouds by associating laser scans with localization data.

  • @jakobmakesrobots But it looks like it scans the entire buildings and trees all the way to the top. I would understand if it were just showing a 3D model of the ground. Also, looking at the point density of the data, it looks like the data shown here was taken by a system that rotates a 2D lidar around the "roll" axis.

  • @atotoole21 The laser scanner is indeed 2D. But it is also tilted forward, so that by moving the robot, the combined 2D slices add up to a 3D image of the environment.

  • how is the laser scanner data in 3D, the robot doesn't appear to move the lidar. I would think it would only be 2D
