In Punjabi it is also pronounced as Chaiter .It is wrong to attribute Desi calender to Sikhs only ,it is a heritage of All of the nations living in Indian sub continent , whatever their religious affiliation may be .

Chait is the name of a month in Nanakshahi calendar (Sikh calendar), llllkartoooosllll was close but it's not exactly season. Like Sawan, Bhadoun are names of months that happen to be in Monsoon season, the Chait month lies in the spring (bahaar) season, Chait starts on 14 March and Chait is the first month of the year.
