Katie Couric: "Maybe We Need a Muslim Version of the Cosby Show"

Here is video of News Anchor Katie Couric asserting that there is a great deal of "hatred" and "bigotry" towards Muslims in the United States. She put forth the idea that the way to combat what she believes is ignorance about Islam is to have a TV show to alter views about the religion: "Maybe we need a Muslim version of the Cosby Show."

Diversity fails.

I don't want my children being in a school in which the board of ed. has to bog down the learning because a few black kids are unable to act civilized. My children will go to a Majority-White school or an All White school, they will not be tortured with having to sit in diverse classrooms while the teacher has to talk slow and constantly stop due to minorities being disruptive or to avoid offending a culture.

what??? how has this comment gotten 6 thumbs ups??? if a group is continually marginalized they will continue to act "uncivilized". diversity in the classroom is the only way to ensure that all kids receive equal education and are held to the same standards. that being said, i think there is a problem with trying too hard to avoid offending different cultures. everyone should be treated the same, and thats an atmosphere diversity should aim to create.

Whats funny is we do have this kind of show in Canada and its actually pretty good...its called 'Little Mosque on the Prairie" Like the Cosby show, it shows Muslims in the context of Canadian culture. For example, in one episode one of the character daughter dyes her hair and starts wearing a hijab at home to hide it from her dad with her dad being overjoyed she decided to wear it. Same kinda normal fun like Cosbys, check it out.

I pride myself on being good friends with many people who are part of the Islamic faith, and I respect them. At the same time, I am not unworried about the threat of Radical Islam that diverges very much from what mainstream American Muslims believe in, and I don't think toughness in the national security dept. is unwarranted. Does that mean I hate all Muslims? Hell no.

What "statistic" have you read that clearly states Muslims (Not White ones and not Asian ones) are the highest scorers?

Whites and Asians are the top scorers. Arabs (Many of whom are Muslims) are sometimes placed in the same category as whites for god knows why. Whites of European descent are the top scorers, factor the Muslims into their own group, they will probably fall within the Black-Mestizo range.
