Some of the things you all are saying sounds real ignorant. Second, if you don't like the movie, why comment and bash everyone else who thinks highly of this movie. Yes, situations in this movie are real, things like this do happen on a daily basis weather you see it,or not! The film won an oscar because of the outstanding performances, the "not holding anything back" factor, and the message and impact it had on the audience. I encourage all to educate yourself before you spread your opinions!

You have to watch the entire film to get the real understanding of the context of this scene and just how powerful and emotional it is... Gives me goosebumps every time...

Such an absurdly overrated film. Brenden Fraiser and Sandra Bullock and Ryan Phillipe - terrible choices. For a REAL good quality film try the following: Traffic (2000), The Insider (1999), and Syriana (2005). This is overrated garbage.
