Germans made one during world war 2 although we don't know if anyone actually used it. No American flyer was willing to risk life on it. They tested it on a teether could go up 60 meters.Gary Burdett and Alexander Bohr also made one that could go up 7 meters and reach speed of 45 to 50 km/hr. Early ones operated about 30 seconds or less more recent one about 9 minutes.

I used to love watching this show on Saturday morning tv, it always finished on a cliff hanger and made you wait a whole week to find out what happened. Amazing special effects for it's day!
