Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan criticizes the Bush Administration's conduct in the run-up to the Iraq war, for conducting what he describes as a "political marketing campaign" designed to "sell the war to the American people."

-----

Formerly a member of Bush's select, loyal inner circle, McClellan will speak with rare candor about his experiences as press secretary during the first three years of the Iraq War, one of the most challenging and contentious periods of recent U.S. history, as well as where he thinks the president and his top aides veered off course, and the lessons the American people need to learn as they choose a new leader - The Commonwealth Club of California

Scott McClellan is a former White House Press Secretary (2003-2006) for President George W. Bush. He replaced Ari Fleischer as press secretary in July 2003 and served until replaced by Tony Snow on April 26, 2006.

As Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary, Scott McClellan served as the primary spokesperson for the President and delivered the daily White House briefing. Prior to joining the White House staff, he served as the traveling press secretary for the Bush-Cheney 2000 campaign.

Mr. McClellan began working as a gubernatorial spokesman for then-Governor Bush in early 1999. Previously, he served as chief of staff to a Texas state senator, worked on grassroots issue outreach in Texas, and managed three successful campaigns for statewide office.

Mr. McClellan is a native of Austin, Texas. He received his bachelor's degree in government from the University of Texas.

  • I think most people are never completely happy with thier choices in any given election...I think the GOP will front Romney and the voters will vote for the person they perceive is the "lesser evil"

Hense the current fear and smear campaign attacking Obama...

  • I dont personally care but theres no way a Mormon becomes President. The poor 'Christian' Repulicans wont come out to vote for a Mormon in swing states.

  • The War Lobby in Washington continues their campain to restore their foothold on the U.S.

My bets are that they will prop up Mitt Romney in 2012. Romney will follow their wishes by launching an attack on Iran, so that Israel is not perceived as the aggressor.

What most Americans do not know is that Israel operates out of Washington in the form of the American Enterprise Institute.

Most politicians fear and revere them as if they were the Gotti crime family.

  • Most Americans are now wanting to move past Iraq towards a more peaceful future.

  • He is still spinning this: Bush & Co presented a case for what they knew to be untrue---that Saddam was amassing WMD's and was an imminent threat to our safety. That's called "lying to the American people." Let's call a spade a spade.

  • he should have been president

  • This man is awesome, He is the only one in the bunch who's conscience won over greed.

  • This guy was quite possibly the worst press secretary ever. I encourage all of you to check out his fmr press sec deputy, Trent Duffy's comments in the Washington Post back in June. Talk about a beat down.

  • The decision to go to war with Iraq was made prior to 9/11. GW Bush and Mel Sembler went to Israel prior to his taking office. Mel Sembler was directly involved with the forged CIA documents regarding Saddam and Yellowcake uranium...which was the faulty intelligence used as justification to go to war with Iraq. This would be water under the bridge, if it were not for the fact that Mel Sembler is courting John McCain and also Mitt Romney. Any guesses as to who McCain will nominate for VP?

  • he served us the bs not wants to be on our side...they are all criminals, now he's exposing the lies; hey stupid, remember you lied to us too when the truth was obvious
