  • @counterstryke for you to THINK you know me is sad, and if i was the one not going by GODS word then my statement about being judged as you judge would be false. I know Gods word. And I know its people like you that give Christianity a bad name. so YOU go cry to someone else. You're reallly lacking spiritually if you don't see that Jesus said Loving God and Loving your neighbor as yourself were the two biggest deals. Bleeding heart my ass, I just have knowledge of the word.

  • @Sherpol

Ah shaddup. I'm a hater because I see a hippie and call him on it?

Get a life dude. You're a bleeding heart contemporary christian who defends others based on your feelings rather then God's word.

How do you know he's "trying". How do you know what "most" believers are doing. I have friends who know him personally and he's nothing more then a happy go lucky feel good hippie.

    Go cry to someone else.

  • @counterstryke who are you to say he isn't saved? if you just want to judge remember God will judge you by the measure you judge. Don't be a hater , at least he's trying, more than i can say for most believers.

  • Dude seriously get off the weed smoke. You totally confused two separate stories into one. He never collected the fish, not did he say he made it.

You can get aways with this because your audience doesn't read their Bibles to know the difference.

Christ responded "Render unto Cesar the things that are cesar's and unto God the things that are God.

Jesus was talking about worldly taxes vs spiritual tithes. It had nothing to do with fish.

    Get saved.

  • He's a hippy... but a good hippy ;)

  • Basically I really like this passage because Jesus atoned for our sins on the cross once for all. There's no need for an atonement sacrificial temple tax. It's been taken care of! We are made new in Christ by His Spirit! We can freely give from our finances, time, talent, possessions, ANYTHING! It's beautiful. It really is. Praise the Lord for the completeness of His Son, even if we miss it sometimes.

  • Jesus then says to Peter, "then the sons go free." This is so AWESOME! To the Jewish readers (who are the intended audience for the book of Matthew) this was a huge statement! Because Jesus is saying right here "I'm the Son of God, God is my Father, He is the King of the Temple, I don't HAVE to pay the tax." But Jesus tells Peter to go cast his line and catch a fish, a coin will be in it's mouth (good job Peter for having the faith to act on this strange command).

  • this passage of scripture keeps following me around, and no, it's not because i haven't paid my taxes. :) there's a lot of depth to this passage that deserves to be uncovered. the tax the pharisees are referring to Peter about is the temple tax. God calls this tax the "atonement tax". i believe every israelite that was 20 or older had to pay this tax. so in the NT passage, Jesus asks Peter "who do the kings of the earth tax - their sons or strangers". Peter replies "strangers".

  • This is Jesus on taxes. Shane is just quoting him :P

  • Praise Jah and let the light of Jesus Christ shine brighter.
