I use Izotope RX to rermove background noise and clicks. Works great.

thankyou for the video , im unsure about the bells and whistles every body is going on about your way works and that is all that matters , at the end of the day it is probably only as good as the equipment that you use i am just happy to be able to have a copy on the computer

For the best quality, you should use a dedicated sound card to record.

@PhatBoySky Something, somewhere along the line, has its gain up too high.

Don't you have to apply the RIAA de-emphasis EQ curve?

@fastfourier666 That's a good question. I didn't, but this turntable had a small preamp which I imagine would take care of that

yes have the headphone and the mic socket, have tried mini jack to mini jack in both, but audacity does not recognise where the sound is coming from, on your vid at approx 2.57 minutes that particular action I cannot do, if I try to scroll down it won't let me, it just stays blank, it is a brand new laptop so cannot figure what is up, have right clicked speaker in the right bottom it brings up vol preferences but does not recognise a mic, any help please.
