@ninetalescommander The thing is, Ken used to be a palette swap and grew into the franchise as an iconic character over multiple games, so tinkering too much with his specials would make him an entirely new character and not an improved version. Hence they tried to make him unique by changing the way those specials are applied and giving him a different normal moveset. And apart from you I don't know anyone who disagrees with that being a success.
-
Now that is the type of attitude I respect so I thank you for being polite about it.
The thing is, I am not completely biased against Ken's moveset, I think both of his ultras are very good and make him stand out and his super is pretty good as well.
If it was me, I'd do 1 of 2 things
1. Remove Hadoken and the spinning kick move and give him 2 new moves.
2. Keep the moves he has but add in at least 2 new ones.
Plus the reason Ken didn't make it into MVC3 was because of this.
-
@ninetalescommander "he has alot of moves that are basic in fighting"..What is that supposed to mean? His normals are completely different to everyone else. He even has about twice the amount of normals compared to the rest of the cast.
I understand where you are coming from, yet your view is limited to that of someone you clearly has no understanding to the inner workings of the game. Try to broaden your mindset and you will actually have more fun with the game, trust me.
-
Actually, I think Dhalsim is a excellent character in terms of individuality.
Yes he has alot of moves that are basic in fighting but alot of his moves are completely unique.
The only character that's similar to Dhalsim is Seth but even Seth has a decent amount of moves nobody else has.
And again, Balrog and Dudley may limit to punches but they do have alot of things that makes them stand out.
Ken's moves are simply moves that Ryu has, you can deny it all you want but its true.
-
@ninetalescommander Sim = Dhalsim. It's a common abbrev in the FGC if you catch my drift. And just because YOU don't "expect" much individuality from the basic move set of a character doesn't change the fact that it undeniably exists. If you cannot see that then you are just oblivious to how the game is built.
"A Punch is a Punch and a kick is a kick" - Tell that to Balrog and Dudley, they would like a word with you.
-
Sorry but who is Sim? Are you referring to the video game The Sims? Or a character I'm un-aware of?
But regardless, the basic moves I don't expect much individuality of. A Punch is a Punch and a kick is a kick, I have no problem with characters sharing that attack as its basic to fighting.
So really no, you can't apply that logic to basic moves as its normal to actual fighting.
-
@ninetalescommander Or are you really gonna tell me that Sim's normals do not count towards his individuality? No? Thought so. And the same logic applies to every character. If you can't see the difference between moves than that only means you have less knowledge of the inner workings of the game.
-
@ninetalescommander basic moves are what are used "mainly" during a match, hence main moves imo. I know what YOU meant by it, so I used your terminology to flip it around to my own logic. What sets characters apart are ALL options they have available including every single normal, unique, special, super, ultra. Just because scrubs online spam specials all day doesn't mean the other moves are non existent or non-determining for a characters playstyle. Look at Sim for example.
-
Not really, the main moves are the signature attacks of the characters.
Examples are Ryu's Hadoken, Chun-Li's spinning bird kick, Sagat's Tiger Gun, Guile's Flash Kick and so on.
These are what separates the characters apart but Ken, all his main stuff is just stuff Ryu has.
How people can count basic moves as Character individuality is beyond me.
-
@ninetalescommander basic moves, main stuff = same thing.
-
All are basic moves. When it comes to the main stuff, he's a clone.
-
@ninetalescommander step Kick, step overhead, Kara throw, fake step, need more ?
-
@ninetalescommander Adding on to my other comment...All of those moves listed by you behave totally different. You call them "small" differences, everyone else calls them playstyle determining differenes.
Ken hasn't been a Ryu clone for a long time. This is not SF2
-
@ninetalescommander Time for a second opinion. Yes it does cut it. Ask yourself what makes up a character. If it isn't hitboxes, frames and move properties - what is? On top of that both have moves the other has no equivalent for,e.g. the overhead (1 hit, 2hit, step) or step kick. By your standards every shoto is the same. If you feel that way than I dare you to train with one and then try to play another without training...I predict fail unless you only fight scrubs.

Love Sakura =D

Sakura´s low tier my ass

@N1ckSandham WTF are you stalking me for :O :D
-
@Onimyst Oh hey there
-
Those single frame links are so hard to do and Uryo makes them look easy.
-
Every point you've made I have come back with an even better argument.
When you started to lose, you turned troll and simply insulted me.
And yes, this is the Internet, you need to learn that yourself before telling me that.
If I am not making this simple for you, lets review
You say Ken is alot different than Ryu because he has different hit boxes, move properties and frame rates.
These claims are true but they do not really separate them apart.
Sorry, but it doesn't cut it
-
@ninetalescommander WTF I already did you idiot go back and read. You're saying I know nothing but I've proven my point every comment Ive made.
And Im not embarrassing my self in the slightest.... its the internet you fuckin nerd. I dont get embarrassed on the internet. Holy shit I am actually giving up now you are way too thick.
-
You call me retarded yet you cannot even present a good argument to what I said.
Its clearly obvious that you don't know what you're talking about so I suggest you stop embarrassing yourself and move on.
The end of the day, all you're doing is insulting me and being a moron to me yet you cannot even present a good argument.
I won't call you retarded because I know better than that, shame you cannot do the same.
-
@ninetalescommander wow you're an idiot, its called a typo.. You ARE retarded the fact that you read everything I say and cant understand it. Im not a retard for making a couple of mistakes on the net
who's uryo, looks like it says efflake to me.

@wra7h He's known as Uryo at the offline Japanese arcades, efllake is his gamertag, for well known players, I user their arcade name rather than their gamertags. For instance, Momochi instead of green212, Tokido instead of tokido77, Daigo instead of gameinn, etc etc.
