iSkoot: If I download iSkoot to my Blackberry, which has AT&T unlimited data transmission, can I access my Skype Out plan and use my sell as a Skype phone when I travel internationally without having to find a WiFi hot spot? VOIP would go out via Skpye as part of my already paid for data plan?
Hi TwinMountain. With iSkoot for Skype you can definitely access your Skype Out balance and you do not need a WiFi hot spot to connect. Please do note though that calls are connected over the voice network, so you'll want a local SIM to avoid any possible international roaming charges.
Most users of Notifier on AT&T already have unlimited data plans, so Notifier doesn't add to their monthly costs. If you pay per kb then yes there would be cost attached.
So you're saying it is a voice transmission and not a data transmission so even if I have unlimited data when abroad it will still cost me roaming (with AT&T)?
Voice sound quality is a problem, by the way. I tried it today.
This is correct. The call is opened via data and completed via voice for maximum coverage and quality, which will in most cases be better than it would be if the call was completed via data.
