Streep does sing "mammy" at the beginning of the song... then sings "mommy." If i remember correctly the musical numbers for this movie were filmed live in order to preserve the quality of, and to present in the fashion of, Keillor's real radio show.

The real show is recorded live and mistakes are made every week - including mis-sung lyrics. Just accept it as part of the charm of A Prairie Home Companiion.

no im pretty sure it says mamie . cause even look at her lips when she sings it says mamie.. i wonder if you can get the lyrics on youtube :O hahaha!
