Garuda

Garuda é o rei dos pássaros e o inimigo das serpentes. O seu corpo era o de um belo homem, com o bico, asas e as garras de uma ave predadora. É associado aos raios de Sol. Garuda é muitas vezes representado como o supremo deus Hindu, Vishnu e com a sua mulher Lakshmi, montada nas suas costas a voarem através do céu.

O seu pai era Kasyapa, um dos sete grandes Prudentes chamados Rishis. O povo Hindu acredita que ele possui a cura para os que sofrem de mordedura de cobra. Num dos mitos, diz-se que Garuda roubou a água da vida, chamada Amrta. Precisava da Amrta para soltar a sua mãe Vinata, que havia sido feita escrava pelo ríval dela, Kadru, através de um subterfúgio.

O resgate exigido por Kadru era o elixir da imortalidade. A água da vida era a ambrosia dos deuses e estava cuidadosamente guardada no paraíso de Indra. A tarefa apresentava-se impossível para ele, no entanto, Garuda conseguiu-o e ganhou a liberdade da sua mãe. Indra partiu o seu relâmpago durante a batalha.

@princegoutham ..New age Krishnaism? lol.You don't know nothing about the Philosophy of Vaisnavaism. It was first told by Lord Krishna to sun god Vivasvan and it was lost. Lord Krishna explain it again to Arjuna in the battle of Kurutsetra all the way down to present Parampara. Lord caitanya elaborate it more clearly and shows the real Radha Krishna lila in himself. No one can really understand the supreme personality of godhead thru mental speculations.

@princegoutham ..It is not a misinterpretentions. It's a fact and it iwas written in the Vedas and the Puranas.Lord Shiva is only part and parcels of lord Krishna. Try reading the Bhagabad gita by srilad Prabupada. BHAGABAD GITA AS IT IS, NO NEED TO INTERPRET. "Yo mam ajam anadim ca vetti loka-mahesvaram asammudhah sa martyesu sarva-papaih pramucyate"..He who knows me as unborn,as beginningless,as the lord of all worlds-he only undeluded among men,is freed from all sins.(BGT.10.3)

@princegoutham ..I think you've got the other way around. KRISHNA is the supreme Godhead. Lord shiva is a great devotee of Lord Krishna. RUDRA(shiva) was born in the forehead of lord brahma.Lord Vishnu,Brahma and Shiva are the creator,maintainer and destroyer of this universe and Lord Krishna is the seed giving father of all living entities.He is Lord Jaganatha( Lord of the universe). Every thing that is moving and non moving are under his directions.He is the only supreme enjoyer of everything.

Nice to remember Lord garuda again. Now that the reptilians(snake) are somewhat here again,i was hoping for lord garuda to come back (with the blessing of Lord Vishnu) to defeat them again.It reminds me of Lord Krishna defeating the seven hooded Kaliya snakes with his dancing and stomping on their hood. THE REPTILIANS ARE BACK, SO WATCH OUT FOLKS !!
