Welcome to a CakeLove Podcast. Today we're doing Yellow Butter Cake. Kind of a funny name because it's Vanilla cake, but it's yellow because it uses egg yokes and whites - not just white cake. Like all of our cakes, this cake is made from scratch with all natural ingredients.

  • Wow! Someone who actually explains the scientific reasons behind things.

    Not "Do this because it's what I got taught"

  • there are 8oz in 1 cup:

    6oz = 3/4 cup

    14oz = 1 3/4 cup

    7oz = 3/4 cup + 1/8 cup

    2oz = 1/4 cup

    Greetings from Berlin/ Germany

  • Can I use corn starch instead of potato starch?? Thanks

  • 1 cup of sifted flour weighs 4 oz. So 7 oz would be 1 3/4 c

  • WOW! You are amazing, I've always admired you, I love your way of explaining things. Not even my chefs can explain things like you do. Your Great

  • @jacks22004 8 oz of what? water, molasses, lard? Each component has a different density, so one needs to clarify what the material is before mixing oz and cups. I would imagine that 8 oz of mercury would not fill a cup. Or I could be wrong, but I am certain that D=M/V still is a scientific fact to consider in measurements.

  • Great video. Really well explained. Will try recipe cause I love buttery white cake.

    I would add 1 tsp vanilla or almond extract

  • wow this video was made 3 years ago! anyways, i borrowed his book from the library and i think there's a similar recipe in it. i tried out the recipe (with a few substitutions) and the flavor still turned out pretty good:)
