NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota sponsored a rally at the Minnesota State Capitol, December 2, 2009 to demonstrate against the inclusion of the Stupak Amendment in health care reform legislation and to plead for moral health care reform not dictated by right wing extremists.
Under the Stupak Amendment to Obamacare, women who receive federal subsidies (public money) will be prohibited from using that public money to pay for insurance policies that cover abortion-on-demand. The amendment doesn't prevent private plans from offering abortion services. The amendment specifically provides that even those who receive the public money can purchase a supplemental policy to cover elective abortion...provided it is paid for with "private" money.
