Sure the person organising the conference contacted certain individuals for sponsorship. I personally had no involvement with Murray irrigation. I (as part of the board gave someone a job. (to organise a conference) They did it. Because there were no deals or promises involved by AEF there was no need for me (as a board member to make any decision regarding murray irrigation. If that insults someone so be it.

My question was this: is it credible to say that you had "nothing to do with the groups....mentioned" when they were major sponsors of a conference held by an organisation of which you are a board member.... a fair enough question, I feel.
To expect your audience to believe that Murray Irrigation sponsoring a conference where environmental issues on the Murray River are to be discussed is not a conflict of interest, is quite simply insulting their intelligence.

So what`s the big deal. The board asks some one to organise a conference & they do it. So what difference does it make who the sponsors are. They pay to have their name splashed around much like advertising on TV works. They don`t dictate what the speakers will say or what the membership want - just like TV advertisers don`t dictate what programs go on TV.

"I don`t have anything to do with the other groups you mentioned" - so as a board member of the Australian Environment foundation, you were unaware that Murray Irrigation were a major sponsor of your 2006 Conference at Rydges Southbank? The conference in fact, where this video was filmed!! One might say, to draw a long bow, that Jennifer Marohasy's talk on the Murray water levels and salinity, were sponsored by Murray Irrigation....now that's a sweetheart deal innit?
So someone from your organisation - the Australian "Environment" Foundation - who is/was also an office bearer of the IPA (which has a well documented relationship with your Foundation), has a serious allegation of conflict of interest levelled at her, and your response is basically "no comment". Is that right? Not good enough mate

The issue is with the IPA. You should level the allegation at the IPA & get a response.
AEF will become concerned if when the IPA cannot give a good response.
