on monday 29th of march 2 inexperienced hungry climbers from Gibraltar hiked to the top of the iberian peninsula on mulhacen, the highest peak of sierra nevada in south spain. no ice axes , no food and 1 pair of gloves for the 2 of them!! sounds silly, it was. we got wet from snow, cold from 100 mph wind gusts, fell through the ice into freezing streams, saw some ibex, learnt how to use crampons and self-arrest with old ice axes. nearly slipped off cliff edges, ok that was a bit exaggerated!! all sounds stupid but..... who wants to do it again!!
Nice video chaps, and some really great photos. I live locally, and while I'm an (old) newbie, I recognize some of the places. Looks like you were having a load of fun, and I wish you more in the future.
Good luck. Steve.
P.S. you can view my vid on Youtube under 'Mulhacen in winter'
