I've used it to pull the wheel when I got a flat. Obviously, common sense is in order and you'd want to loosen your axle bolts BEFORE raising the wheel. It's clearly not designed for long term holding of the bike but merely as an off-road convenience so one's not dependent on finding a sturdy branch or big rock. Saves having to dump a loaded bike and then having to pick it back up just to swap or patch a tube - which is all I want it to do. : )

That's great if you're on a road. Not always feasible if you're off-road on a trail....
