Artist Lori Escalera has worked with youth at risk, community non profits, and civic agancies to create durable, anti graffiti murals in the Southern California area since 1995. This particular project "Postcards From Ballona" is located in Los Angeles County adjacent the Julian Dixon Library and La Ballona Creek. It was co created with artists Lucy Blake Elahi and Francois Bardol, as well as the City of Culver City and Ballona Creek Renaissance as sponsors. Kathy Varlotta's 8th grade mural students and the Culver City A.R.T. Group worked on the first project in 1995 (the first half of the video) as well as the renovation of the mural in 2009 (the second half of the video. For more information email: design.etc@cox.net

All you need is a box of chalk and permission to use the street. Go for it!

  • I remember doing something similar in school, similar atmosphere and program.

Wow, i loved art back then, it was so pure an undiscovered.. just beginning to rediscover it all over.

The mural was one of my first childhood art fantasies.

You might not realized how much you helped that day.

Gonna check out your work in PV these next few months, awesome job!
