This is the amazing game from round 8 of Tata Steel Chess.
It's the classical open sicilian setup; opposite sided castling and kingside attack on both sides of the board.

  • The Kh1 move was to avoid the Nd2 check in some lines. Deep, Really did his work on that move!

You're probably right. Didn't have the time to look too deep into the game because I was so excited I had to do the video immediately after the game ended.

  • great upload ... Bxh6 is obvious .. ida played it myself

  • Sounds like a computer.

  • From move 8 onwards, it is clear that Nakamura didn't realize the importance of g4 and castled into a kingside attack where Carlsen had the initiative. There is basically no counterplay for black in this position, and it was a mistake to castle kingside into such an attack. Please note that this is nothing original on Carlsen's part because Kasparov has played g4 early in many games, including the Queen's Gambit and the Najdorf.

  • Also there is a strong Na3 check- off a D. King lecture.

    A great game presentation, Clause!

  • great game, many thanks clause. Its a great tournament with alot of great games to come!

  • Magnus showed who's king!

  • I watched this game on chessdom.com. Nakamura was almost mated here and that surely takes some skill. Amazing game.
